Bluehost Web Hosting Review 2026

bluehost web hosting review 2026

Ask around in any WordPress Facebook group and, sooner or later, somebody will say "just go with Bluehost." Why do people keep saying that? Well, Bluehost has been at it since 2003, WordPress.org still lists it on its own hosting page, and honestly, the 2026 plans barely resemble the ones we wrote about years ago. So, here is our fresh Bluehost web hosting review for 2026. Our original 2015 Bluehost review is still available if you'd like to see how things looked back then.

For this update, we went through every plan, price and feature on Bluehost's website on 1 November 2026. Web hosting starts at $3.99/mo, and managed dedicated servers go up to $394.19/mo at renewal. One thing upfront, though. We didn't buy a Bluehost plan and run speed tests for this update, so any speed or uptime number you see below comes from Bluehost itself, and we'll point that out each time.

Like every host out there, Bluehost has its good days and its not-so-good ones. Once you know both, picking the right plan gets a whole lot easier. So, let's dig in.

All prices in this review are in US dollars, as shown on Bluehost's website in November 2026. Intro prices need a long term paid upfront, and Bluehost was running a "Holiday Savings" sale when we checked, so confirm the final price at checkout.

Bluehost Web Hosting: The Goods

Bluehost has quite a few strong points in 2026, and some of them surprised us, especially on pricing. Here's what stood out when we dug through the plans.

Renewal Prices Are Lower Than Most Rivals

Coming to the matter straight away, this is Bluehost's biggest plus right now. The Starter plan renews at $9.99/mo and Business at $13.99/mo. Compare that with the data in our hosting comparison: SiteGround's StartUp plan renews at $17.99/mo and Hostinger's Premium plan at $10.99/mo. Most hosts lure you in with a tiny intro price and then double or triple it later. Bluehost still raises the price, of course, but the jump hurts a lot less than usual.

Room for 10 Websites, Even on the Cheapest Plan

The Starter plan lets you host 10 websites with 10 GB of NVMe storage, and Bluehost says it's good for around 40,000 visits a month. Many hosts limit their entry plan to a single site, so this is handy if you run a blog plus a small side project, or you're building sites for a couple of local clients. Business raises the limit to 50 sites, and eCommerce Essentials to 100.

Built Around WordPress

Every web hosting plan is really a WordPress plan now, and it shows in the details. Yoast SEO comes pre-installed, WordPress core, themes and plugins update automatically, and there's an AI site builder that suggests three ready designs from a few answers. More importantly for us, even Starter includes a staging site, SSH and WP-CLI access, plus object caching. SiteGround, for example, keeps staging for its GrowBig plan and up. If you've never set up WordPress before, our guide on how to build a WordPress website walks through the whole thing.

Security Included on Every Plan

All plans come with a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate, daily malware scanning, a web application firewall and DDoS protection. Step up to Business or eCommerce Essentials and you also get AI-powered malware removal, plus domain privacy free for the first year. Is that enough security for a small site? For most, yes. Still, don't skip your own backups; our guide on how to back up and restore a WordPress site shows the easy way.

WordPress.org Still Recommends It

When we checked on 1 November 2026, WordPress.org's hosting page still listed Bluehost among its recommended hosts. It isn't a speed test, mind you, but it does mean Bluehost meets the WordPress project's own expectations, and it has held that spot for years.

Cheap, Fast VPS Plans for Developers

This one's for the tinkerers. Bluehost's self-managed VPS runs on AMD EPYC chips with DDR5 memory and NVMe drives, and the smallest plan, 1 vCPU with 2 GB of RAM, costs just $4.49/mo. The renewal? $5.69/mo. That's barely a bump, which is rare in VPS land. You also get root access, your own IP address and a pick of AlmaLinux or Ubuntu. If you're comfortable in a terminal, it's a cheap little sandbox.

A 30-Day Refund Window and Round-the-Clock Chat

Not sure yet? Every web hosting plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can kick the tires without much risk. Chat support runs 24/7 on all plans, and from Business upward you can also pick up the phone. Bluehost says its average chat response is under two minutes. We didn't test that ourselves for this update, so take it as their number.

Bluehost Web Hosting: The Bads

Now, Bluehost isn't perfect, and a few things are worth knowing before you pay. So, let's have a look at them as well.

You Need a 3-Year Term for the Best Price

The $3.99/mo Starter price is for a 36-month term, paid upfront. That works out to $143.64 on day one, and Business comes to $251.64. If you'd rather pay monthly or yearly, the price is higher. It's still fair value over three years, but don't expect to pay $3.99 and walk away.

Backups Are Only Weekly

All three web hosting plans list weekly website backups. Over at SiteGround, every plan gets daily backups. Why does that matter? Picture a busy online store on Black Friday weekend. If something breaks and your newest backup is six days old, those six days of orders are gone. So, add a backup plugin and sleep better.

No Phone Support on Starter

The Starter plan comes with chat support only. If you prefer talking to a real person on the phone when something breaks, you'll need the Business plan or higher.

Managed VPS Costs a Lot More

Here's a gap that caught our eye. Take the self-managed NVMe 4 VPS: 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of RAM, $8.49/mo. Now look at the managed Standard NVMe 4, which has exactly the same CPU and RAM, adds cPanel and WHM, and costs $49.99/mo, renewing at $68.99/mo. Yes, really. You're paying mostly for cPanel and for Bluehost to run the server. It's fair if you need that, but it's a big leap.

Some Renewals Jump Hard

Not every plan renews gently. The self-managed NVMe 8 VPS, for example, starts at $12.49/mo and then renews at $28.99/mo, which is more than double. So, before you click buy, squint at that small renewal line under the price.

Data Center Locations Aren't Listed

All the plan pages say is "global" or "multiple" data centers, no city names. Need your server close to customers in, say, Texas or New York? Ask support before you pay.

Honestly, none of this should scare off a beginner. It's just stuff you want to know before your card gets charged.

Now, you got a basic idea about the good and bad sides of Bluehost. Now, let's have a look at its plans and prices.

Bluehost Web Hosting Plans

Bluehost offers four main kinds of hosting: web hosting (which is the same as its WordPress hosting), WooCommerce hosting through the eCommerce Essentials plan, VPS hosting in self-managed and managed versions, and managed dedicated servers. There's also a managed private cloud for big sites, which we haven't covered here.

Bluehost Web and WordPress Hosting

Here, prices start at $3.99/mo and renew from $9.99/mo. In plain English, it's shared hosting that Bluehost has tuned for WordPress, and it covers most blogs, portfolios and small business sites, from a handful of visitors to a few hundred thousand a month.

  • Starter: As the name itself suggests, this is the place to start. You get 10 websites and 10 GB of NVMe storage, Bluehost says it's fine for about 40,000 visits a month, and if you get stuck, it's chat only, no phone.
  • Business: Bluehost's best seller, and I can see why. Fifty websites, 50 GB of storage, roughly 200,000 visits a month, and you finally get phone support, along with smarter malware removal and a free year of domain privacy.
  • eCommerce Essentials: Got something to sell? This plan handles 100 websites, 100 GB of storage and about 400,000 visits a month, and it installs WooCommerce for you, complete with tools for payments, subscriptions, memberships and paid courses. Bluehost VPS Hosting

Self-managed VPS plans begin at $4.49/mo on a 24-month term and renew from $5.69/mo, while the managed ones begin at $49.99/mo on a 36-month term. What's a VPS, anyway? It's your own fenced-off slice of a server with resources nobody else can borrow, which is great for busy sites, stores and agencies. Not sure you need one yet? We've broken it all down in our guide to shared vs VPS vs cloud hosting.

  • Self-managed VPS: As the name itself suggests, you're on your own here. Root access is yours, and so are setup, updates and security, which suits developers just fine.
  • Managed VPS: Bluehost looks after the server and throws in cPanel with WHM. For a small agency juggling client sites, that's a real time saver.

VPS Plans and Prices

Self-managed, on a 24-month term:

  • NVMe 2: the baby of the family, with 1 vCPU, 2 GB of RAM and 50 GB of storage. $4.49/mo now, $5.69/mo later.
  • NVMe 4: double everything (2 vCPUs, 4 GB, 100 GB) for $8.49/mo, then $11.99/mo.
  • NVMe 8: 4 vCPUs, 8 GB and 200 GB at $12.49/mo. Watch out here, because it renews at $28.99/mo.
  • NVMe 16: the big one, with 8 vCPUs, 16 GB and 450 GB, at $25.99/mo and later $49.99/mo.

Managed, with cPanel and WHM, on a 36-month term:

  • Standard NVMe 4: 2 vCPUs, 4 GB and 100 GB for $49.99/mo, renewing at $68.99/mo.
  • Enhanced NVMe 8: 4 vCPUs, 8 GB and 200 GB, $68.99/mo now and $98.99/mo after that.
  • Ultimate NVMe 16: 8 vCPUs, 16 GB and 450 GB at $97.99/mo, then $143.99/mo.

All VPS plans use DDR5 memory and come with unmetered bandwidth.

Bluehost Dedicated Hosting

Managed dedicated servers start at $144.19/mo on a 36-month term and renew from $191.79/mo. What do you get? A whole physical server, all yours. That's overkill for a blog, but it makes sense for very busy sites, big stores and agencies with lots of clients. Manage it through WHM and cPanel, or skip the panel and go straight in over SSH as root.

Dedicated Server Plans and Prices

Three sizes are on offer, all on a 36-month term. Standard NVMe 32 gives you 8 cores, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for $144.19/mo, renewing at $191.79/mo. Enhanced NVMe 64 doubles that to 16 cores, 64 GB and 2 TB for $220.19/mo, then $274.19/mo. And Premium NVMe 128, a real monster with 32 cores, 128 GB and 3 TB, costs $315.19/mo before it renews at $394.19/mo. You can order any of them here.

Who Should Choose Bluehost?

  • Choose Bluehost if you're starting a WordPress blog or small business site, want space for a few sites, and care about what you'll pay after the first term.
  • Choose Bluehost if you're a developer who wants a cheap self-managed VPS with a small renewal jump.
  • Look elsewhere if you need daily backups on a budget plan, phone support on the cheapest plan, or a managed VPS at a low price.

Conclusion: Our Bluehost Web Hosting Review Verdict

Bluehost surprised me in 2026. I expected the usual cheap-today, expensive-tomorrow story, but its renewals are actually gentler than most rivals', and the Starter plan is more generous than I expected. If you read our Hostinger review and our SiteGround review for 2026, you can compare all three side by side. Over three years, it's genuinely good value for a beginner, I'd say. Just don't forget those weekly-only backups and the 36-month commitment, and set up a backup plugin on day one. Do that, and Bluehost is an easy recommendation.

We think this Bluehost web hosting review helped you understand what you get and what you pay. Are you using Bluehost, or thinking about it? Don't forget to leave your feedback in the comment area below.
