All Posts

Posts > All Posts

The all posts section is the list of all the posts you either created, published, or pending. It is the index of your posts.

The all posts section also contains links/dropdown boxes at the top that allows you to filter posts based on their status, author, dates, categories, etc.

In addition to these, third-party plugins or tools may add additional filter items. For example, if you are using the Yoast SEO plugin, you will also see additional sections to filter posts based on its SEO Score and Readability Score.

Filter Posts

There are a lot of ways to filter posts.

Click on

  • All to view all the posts except in the Trash.
  • Mine to view only your posts (the user currently logged in).
  • Published to list all live posts.
  • Drafts to list all drafts that have been saved but not yet published.

Choose and click Filter button

  • All Dates to view posts in a certain month.
  • All Categories to view posts in a specific category.

Bulk Actions

You can see a Bulk Actions dropdown on the left side of the filter section. This simply allows you to select multiple posts and perform actions such as Editing them or Moving them to the trash.

To perform bulk actions on multiple posts:

  1. Click the check boxes before the posts to choose them.
  2. Click on the Bulk Actions select box.
  3. Choose the action, either Edit or Move to Trash.
  4. Click Apply.

Keep in mind that, there are certain limits set on your hosting server which might prevent you from performing too many bulk actions at the same time. In that case, you will receive a 502 Bad Gateway error message. So, if you receive any such error messages, try choosing less number of posts and perform the action again.

Search Posts

On the right side, you will see a search box which you can use to easily find posts.

Posts Structure

The all posts page provides a number of views, navigation, and visibility options.

Columns Displayed

You can control which columns are displayed on the all posts page by going to Screen Options and checking/unchecking the checkboxes near the available columns under Columns section.

Number of Posts

By default, WordPress will show you 10 posts per page. It can be changed from Screen Options at the top and changing the Number of items per page option under the Pagination section. You can choose upto 999 posts per page.

Choosing a lot of posts per page will make the loading slow. Especially if you have a server with fewer resources, it is recommended to keep this to a minimum. It is OK to change it when you need it and change it back when you no longer need to display too many posts.

View Mode

There are two different view modes WordPress provides for posts.

  • Compact View – Listing the necessary things in a much smaller space making it easy to navigate throughout the posts page.
  • Extended View – This Will also show a short description of the posts from its content. It will take much more space compared to the Compact View.

You can change them by going to Screen Options at the top-right section and choosing the preferred mode under View mode.
