InMotion Hosting Review

inmotion hosting review 2026

InMotion Hosting has been around since 2001, which is a long time in web hosting. It's still run by the people who started it, it has an office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and it says it owns the servers its customers run on. So, here is our honest InMotion Hosting review for 2026, written after going through its shared, WordPress, VPS and dedicated plans.

We checked every plan page on 7 November 2026. Shared hosting starts at $4.79/mo if you sign up for one year, and dedicated servers start at $35/mo. But one thing upfront. We didn't buy a plan or run our own speed tests for this review, so any speed or uptime number below comes from InMotion, and I'll point that out each time.

I've been using WordPress since 2014, and I run several eCommerce sites of my own on it. With any host, the first thing I want to know is what I'll pay after the first year. InMotion has a little twist there, and it's worth knowing before you click "Select". Let's have a look.

All prices in this review are in US dollars, as shown on inmotionhosting.com on 7 November 2026. Intro prices are for new customers, and taxes are extra.

InMotion Hosting Review: The Goods

InMotion does a few things I really like. Here's what stood out when we went through the plans.

A 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee

This is the first thing that caught my eye. Hosting.com and DreamHost, which we reviewed this month, give you 30 days to change your mind. InMotion gives you 90. That's three full months to move your site over, test it, and see if you like the support. One catch: it only counts on plans of 6 months or longer, so the month-to-month plans aren't covered.

It Owns Its Servers

InMotion says it owns and runs thousands of servers in data centers in California, Virginia and the Netherlands, on a network it runs itself. It also doesn't use LiteSpeed. Instead, it runs its own setup called UltraStack, built on NGINX, PHP-FPM and OPcache. InMotion says that lets its team fix speed problems directly, without waiting on another company.

InMotion also says its shared plans averaged a 0.77-second server response time for WordPress sites under heavy load. That's their own test, not ours, so take it as a claim.

Plenty of Storage and Unlimited Email

Even the cheapest plan, Launch, comes with 100 GB of NVMe storage and unmetered bandwidth. Power gets 200 GB and Pro gets 300 GB. You also get unlimited email addresses on your own domain on every plan, which is nice if you want hello@yourbusiness.com, sales@ and support@ without paying extra.

Real People on the Phone

Support is 24/7, and it's people, not a bot. On Power and up, you can call them, chat or open a ticket. If you're a small business owner in Ohio who just wants to talk to someone when the site is down, that matters a lot. Launch gets chat and tickets only, though.

WordPress Plans Come With Backups and Staging

If you pick the WordPress versions of the plans, you get automatic offsite backups, a staging tool to test changes on a copy of your site, WordPress multisite, advanced caching and Cloudflare integration. Each site also gets its own PHP workers: 3 on WP Launch, 4 on WP Power and 6 on WP Pro.

Room to Grow

Outgrow shared hosting, and you don't need to change hosts. A self-managed VPS starts at $13.99 a month, a managed VPS at $43.49, and dedicated servers at $35. InMotion's team will move your sites over for you.

InMotion Hosting Review: The Bads

Like every host, InMotion has a few rough spots. None of them is a deal-breaker, but you should know about them.

The Renewal Price Is About Three Times Higher

Here's the twist I mentioned. The page shows Launch at $4.79 a month, and that's for a 1-year term. After that year, it renews at $14.99 a month. That's roughly three times more.

Now, the 3-year term is $4.99 a month, so it looks a bit pricier at first. But you pay that for all 36 months. If you do the math, the 3-year term costs $179.64 in total. Go with 1 year and renew twice, and you pay $417.24 for the same three years.

inmotion launch 3 year cost
What InMotion's Launch plan costs over 36 months, depending on how you pay, checked 7 November 2026.

So, if you're sure you'll stay, the 3-year term is the smart pick. Just remember that it renews at $13.99 a month after that.

Only Two Websites on Launch

Launch lets you host just 2 websites. That's fine for one business site and a blog, but if you want more, you'll need Power (10 sites) or Pro (40 sites).

Backups Aren't Included on the Regular Shared Plans

The WordPress plans include automatic backups, but the regular shared plans list Backup Manager as an add-on. So, if you pick plain Launch or Power, check that you've got backups sorted before you start building.

Only Three Data Center Locations

InMotion's servers are in Virginia, California and Amsterdam. That's good for US visitors on either coast, but if most of your readers are in Asia or Australia, a host with servers closer to them may load faster.

No Phone Support on the Cheapest Plan

Launch and WP Launch get chat and tickets only. Phone support starts with Power. It's not a huge deal, but if phone help is the reason you picked InMotion, skip Launch.

InMotion Hosting Plans

InMotion sells shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS servers and dedicated servers. Here's what each one costs.

Shared Hosting

Most people start here. If you've got a blog, a business site or a small store, these will do the job. They run cPanel, and InMotion looks after the server for you.

Launch is for your first business site, with 2 websites, 100 GB and about 50,000 visitors a month. Power gives you 10 sites, 200 GB and about 300,000 visitors, plus phone support. Pro is the big one, with 40 sites, 2 vCPU cores, 4 GB of RAM, 300 GB, a dedicated IP and WHM, so agencies can split client sites into up to four cPanel accounts.

3-year term$4.99/mo$5.99/mo$10.99/mo

Look at Power before you choose. It's only $1 more a month than Launch, but you get five times the sites, twice the storage and phone support.

WordPress Hosting

The WordPress plans cost a bit more. What do you get for that? Offsite backups, a staging tool, more PHP workers, and WordPress already installed for you.

  • WP Launch is $5.29 a month for the first year, then $15.49, for 2 sites and about 170,000 visitors.
  • WP Power is $6.29, then $19.49, for 10 sites, about 320,000 visitors and phone support.
  • WP Pro is $11.29, then $26.49, for 40 sites, about 520,000 visitors and a dedicated IP.

On a 3-year term, WP Launch is $5.49 a month and renews at $14.49. For a WordPress site, I'd pick these over the regular shared plans, mainly for the backups.

VPS Hosting

If you need your own server, there are two ways to go. With the self-managed VPS, you're on your own. It's $13.99 a month on a 2-year term, then $26.99, and you get 4 vCPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, 160 GB of NVMe and 5 TB of bandwidth. You pick AlmaLinux, Debian or Ubuntu, and you get root access.

Rather not touch the server? Then go managed. Same specs, but it's $43.49 a month on a 2-year term, then $56.49, and InMotion sets it up, installs cPanel and WHM, patches it and backs it up every day.

Dedicated Servers

The cheapest dedicated server, Aspire, is $35 a month on a 1-year term and renews at $49.99. It's older hardware (a 4-core Xeon E3, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 960 GB SSD), but it's a whole server for you. Newer servers start at $99.99 a month with 64 GB of RAM. Every dedicated server comes with free setup and 24/7 support.

InMotion Hosting vs Hosting.com

We reviewed Hosting.com (the old A2 Hosting) just before this, so how do the two compare? Here's what we found, using our Hosting.com review:

  • Cheapest plan: Hosting.com's Starter is $1.49 a month for the first year, while InMotion's Launch is $4.79.
  • Renewal: almost the same, $13.99 at Hosting.com vs $14.99 at InMotion.
  • Sites: Hosting.com allows 5 sites on Starter, InMotion only 2 on Launch.
  • Storage: InMotion wins big, 100 GB vs 15 GB.
  • Money back: 90 days at InMotion vs 30 days at Hosting.com.
  • Backups: Hosting.com includes daily backups on Starter. At InMotion, you need a WordPress plan for that.

Honestly, if you just want the cheapest first year, Hosting.com wins. But if you want more storage, more time to change your mind and someone to call, InMotion is the better deal. Not sure what you'll really pay over a few years? Our true cost calculator does the math, and our hosting comparison lines up other hosts too.

Who Should Choose InMotion Hosting?

  • I'd pick InMotion if I ran a small business site, wanted phone support and could pay for 3 years upfront.
  • Agencies with a bunch of client sites will like Pro, with 40 sites and separate cPanel accounts.
  • Growing stores that might need a VPS next year can move up without changing hosts.
  • I'd skip it if I only cared about the cheapest first year, or needed servers in Asia.

InMotion Hosting FAQs

Is InMotion Hosting good for WordPress?

Yes, I think so. If you go with the WordPress plans, backups happen automatically and offsite, you can test changes on a staging copy, and WordPress comes already installed. Just pick WP Power or higher if you want phone support.

How much does InMotion Hosting cost after the first year?

Launch is $4.79 a month for the first year, then $14.99. Sign up for 3 years instead, and it's $4.99 a month the whole time. After those 3 years, it goes to $13.99.

Does InMotion Hosting have a money-back guarantee?

Yes, 90 days. That's three times as long as the 30 days you get at Hosting.com or DreamHost. It only applies to plans of 6 months or longer, though.

Where are InMotion's data centers?

InMotion has data centers in Virginia, California and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. You pick the one closest to your visitors when you sign up.

Does InMotion Hosting use LiteSpeed?

No. InMotion runs its own setup called UltraStack, built on NGINX, PHP-FPM and OPcache.

Conclusion: Our InMotion Hosting Review Verdict

InMotion Hosting is a solid pick in 2026 for small businesses that want lots of storage, a long money-back window and real people to talk to. It owns its servers, and you can move up to a VPS or dedicated server without changing hosts. If you read our Hosting.com review, you'll see Hosting.com is cheaper in year one, but InMotion gives you more storage and more time to decide. Just pick the 3-year term to avoid the big renewal jump, and pick a WordPress plan if you want backups included.

We think this InMotion Hosting review helped you understand what you get and what you pay. Are you using InMotion Hosting, or thinking about it? Don't forget to leave your feedback in the comment area below.
